AD Self Service Portal

What is ADSS Portal?

ADSS is a centralized web-based solution for Active Directory self-service and management. It allows Active Directory administrators and IT managers to manage multiple Active Directories through a central location while providing them complete visibility and insight into their directories. Moreover, it also enables AD users to enroll and manage their accounts themselves without the involvement of IT administrators.

Why ADSS?

Imagine being the IT desk responsible for maintaining a large Active Directory. Without proper self-service, the IT help desk needs to reset user passwords, unlock domain accounts, update profiles, and implement strong password policies. Besides they also need to create new AD users, groups, and contacts. These mundane tasks normally eat up ITs productive time, forcing it to push more critical issues down the queue. And what if there is more than one Active Directory to manage? Can administrators manage remote Active Directories from one central location?

With the AD Self-Service Portal users no longer need to wait for the help desk to reset their passwords or unlock their domain accounts. Its self-service capabilities allow users to update their own passwords, unlock their domain accounts, and update their profiles. Administrators can also enforce password policies, add new AD objects, and restrict users from resetting their passwords.

Moreover, the multi-directory management feature of AD Self-Service Portal allows administrators to manage not only local Active Directories but also multiple remote Active Directories. Multiple remote Active Directories can connect to the centralized web-based portal of the ADSS and allow themselves to be managed by the ADSS Portal.

Then there is the question of delegation of administrative tasks to various admin levels. The multi-level administration inherent in AD Self-Service Portal allows three different levels of admins to administer AD accounts. The super administrator has full control of the system and can administer all Active Directories and organizations (OUs) under it. The entity administrator can manage its own Active Directory and the organizations under it. The third and last level, the organization administrator can make modifications only to its own organization.
